Podiatry has become a highly integrated service at Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital because of the special interest and expertise of our board-certified podiatrists, the respect and cooperation of the division of orthopedic surgery, and a fully accredited three-year podiatric surgical residency that attracts excellent candidates from across the country.
Our podiatrists employ a wide variety of medical and surgical podiatric services to treat leg, heel and foot pain and injuries, and are an especially important adjunct to the management of patients with peripheral vascular disease (PVD).
The division of podiatry is organized within the department of surgery, and provides a full range of podiatric services, including the most innovative surgical procedures for disorders of the foot and ankle.
Members of the division of podiatry are an integral part of the hospital’s wound care program, along with the wound care nurses, participating in regular wound care rounds and providing advanced measures, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, for distal lower extremity wounds.
The podiatrists, most of whom are board-certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, work in close collaboration with all other members of the Medical Staff, including the vascular surgeons, and provide podiatric consultation, and emergency care of injuries and infections of the foot and ankle on a 24/7 basis.
