The Diagnostic Radiology Department at Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, providing advanced diagnostic imaging solutions to patients at every stage of their healthcare journey. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, our department ensures precise and high-quality care in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of various medical conditions. Whether you require routine screenings or complex imaging studies, the dedicated team of radiologists and technologists is committed to delivering accurate results and compassionate care.
At MMCH, we offer state-of-the-art Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) services to provide our patients with the most accurate and detailed diagnostic information. Our advanced MRI unit is capable of performing a wide range of diagnostic tests, including:
• Brain Imaging: For detecting strokes, tumors, and other neurological conditions.
• MR Enterorrhaphy: Specialized for diagnosing conditions in the small intestine, particularly useful for children.
• Prostate MRI: For detailed imaging of the prostate gland, aiding in the detection and staging of prostate cancer.
• Cardiac MRI (CTCA): For imaging the heart and blood vessels to assess conditions such as coronary artery disease.
• Musculoskeletal MRI: For diagnosing joint, muscle, and ligament injuries.
• Spinal MRI: For detecting spinal cord injuries, herniated discs, and other spinal conditions.
• Abdominal MRI: For imaging organs within the abdomen, including the liver, kidneys, and pancreas.
• Breast MRI: For detecting breast cancer and other breast-related conditions.
Unlike traditional imaging methods, our MRI technology can produce extremely accurate images of the brain and its blood vessels without using radiation or dye, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Using cutting-edge MRI technology, we can detect blood flow abnormalities within the first few hours of a stroke, which is crucial for timely diagnosis and treatment. This advanced imaging capability supports MMCH’s continued designation as a Primary Stroke Center by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).
At MMCH, our commitment to utilizing the latest technology and equipment ensures that our patients receive the highest quality care for accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.
Our department features a state-of-the-art 128 slice computed tomography (CT) scanner and a spiral CT scanner, which is up to 10 times faster than conventional CT. These advanced tools allow our skilled radiologists to obtain in-depth information on internal organs and body tissues, making CT scanning an invaluable method for evaluating a variety of medical conditions such as cancers, trauma, and musculoskeletal disorders.
Our nuclear medicine services are essential for detecting and diagnosing a variety of tumors, infections, and disorders throughout the body. By injecting a radioactive substance into the patient’s body, we produce images that reveal the functioning of organs and tissues, allowing for accurate and detailed evaluations by our doctors.
We offer comprehensive ultrasound services, including traditional sonography for cardiac and vascular evaluations. The real-time images produced by our ultrasound technology enable us to observe blood flow and detect issues such as blood clots, atherosclerosis, and stroke warning signs. Ultrasound is also used to monitor the success of bypass procedures, providing critical information for patient care.
Director of Interventional Radiology
